Top 5 Memories

  1. Right Relief as a Legacy: I decided officially in the last year that I won't be going back to teaching as my "job," but instead focusing my time on Caring for Caregivers. It is something I feel SO passionate about. My personality is to nurture which I did for my 20+ kindergarteners and 1st graders every year. It's what I do with my own kids and family. While this is not unlike the millions of other teachers and parents out there, I do know that it's what I was meant to do, not just "full time" but in my life. My whole life!

I read this quote from James Clear recently and it hit home.

"Don't just imagine doing things someday. Do them now. Get out of your head and take action." I'm often "in my head" and I'm realizing more now that action is the way to pursue this dream/goal/Legacy mindset!

  2. 1st Kathy's House group meal for Caregivers was in November 2019 and we of course made lasagna! It was at the "old" Kathy's House and the memory is definitely nostalgic. We had to figure out timing, amounts of food to make, number of volunteers needed, side dishes...

Relief Squad member Sue has been with us the longest!
  1. 1st Ronald McDonald House group meal for Caregivers was also November 2019, the weekend of Thanksgiving. A group had to cancel because of a snowstorm and a post went up looking for a group that could come in last minute and serve dinner to 70. I saw it and immediately wanted to respond saying, "The Right Relief Inc.!" but had to pause and think it through as we'd never done that big of a meal before, had to find childcare, had to grocery shop, find volunteers...in the end, we pulled it off and the guests were SO appreciative. Being in the hospital or away from home during the holidays is the absolute worst, something my husband Kyle and I have both experienced. It was an awesome night and a reminder of the importance of providing Belly Hugs for Caregivers. Even if they don't "fix" much, they at least nourish the body and mind. That is huge and gives the boost needed to keep caring.

  2. 1st Honoring Caregivers Fundraiser was held on Super Bowl Sunday 2020 about a month prior to Covid shutting everything down. Ironically, my daughter Violet had the flu that weekend and so I had less help than I'd planned on for set up. It was in a small private room at the Cleveland Pub in New Berlin and we had 15-20 guests. We did a group activity where guests had to mingle to find the matching numbers to create 5,475 to learn more about the meaning behind that first meal goal.

  1. Journal Sentinel Article: This is a big one for me personally as I grew up with a Dad who was an editor for our local newspaper. To be interviewed/photographed for a feature in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was beyond special and I can only imagine what my Dad would have said. I have the article framed above my desk! It is a piece about the completion of our first meal goal: 5,475 which also has personal significance as it was the total number of dinners I had with my family growing up in my childhood home in Peshtigo.

  1. Connect us with a Small Business

    Why?

Imagine this scenario: you are the founder of a small local business and have employees that are now your friends. You spend 40 hours a week together at least and know a lot about them personally. Perhaps one morning an employee comes in looking down and you ask, "What's up?" and they tell you that their spouse has been diagnosed with cancer You feel terrible. You may have someone in charge of a "sunshine committee" or you may not. Either way, just a quick visit to our website to refer the #Caregiver and without any more "work," #Relief will be on the way. What better way to support your employees than by getting them Relief? We'd love to help support #Caregivers at your workplace.

  2. Social media support: like, comment and share our posts to help spread the word and reach more Caregivers, volunteers & donors .

  1. Refer a Caregiver you know who could use a Dose of Relief.
